Former Syracuse guard Brittney Sykes has been selected to the 2024 USA Basketball 3×3 AmeriCup roster, the team announced Thursday. The tournament will be held from Dec. 12-15 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Sykes had a prolific five-year career with Syracuse, starting a program-best 137 games from 2012-17. She averaged 13.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and shot 43.5% from the field.
Following her SU career, Sykes was drafted seventh overall in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream, becoming the highest-drafted player in Syracuse history. In her eight-year career, Sykes has put up 12.0 points per game, being named to the All-Defensive Team four times and leading the league in steals twice. She now plays for the Washington Mystics.
Team USA’s run begins on Dec. 14 against the Dominican Republic and Uruguay in pool play. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals the next day. Sykes and her teammates will try to defend the USA’s 2023 championship in the event.
