Syracuse senior Miyuka Kimoto was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and earned a spot on the Doubles Team of the Week alongside her partner Nelly Knezkova, the conference announced Tuesday.
Kimoto lost to North Carolina’s No. 10-ranked Reese Brantmeier, 6-1, 6-3, in the Orange’s 4-0 loss to the Tar Heels on Friday. However, on Sunday, the Oita, Japan, native beat Duke’s No. 8 Irina Balus in two sets to notch SU’s first win over a ranked opponent, though Syracuse lost 4-1 to the Blue Devils. Kimoto last won ACC Player of the Week on March 19, 2024, after beating then-No. 3 Amelia Rajecki in SU’s come-from-behind victory against NC State.
Hawaii transfer Knezkova and Kimoto beat Duke’s No. 11 doubles pairing Ellie Coleman and Balus 6-3 Sunday for SU’s first-ranked doubles win of the season.
On the season, Kimoto is 5-1 in singles, while Knezkova and Kimoto are 1-0 as a doubles pair after SU head coach Younes Limam paired them together for the first time Sunday.
