Syracuse quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is entering the transfer portal, according to syracuse.com’s Chris Carlson. Del Rio-Wilson posted and then deleted an X post Tuesday evening stating he was hitting the portal, but per Carlson, the quarterback is currently in the portal.

Del Rio-Wilson spent three years at Syracuse, appearing in 13 games across the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He didn’t appear during the 2024 campaign.

After seeing limited playing time in the opening games of the 2022 season, Del Rio-Wilson saw his first extended action when Garrett Shrader suffered an injury versus Notre Dame on Oct. 29. Del Rio-Wilson piloted then-No. 16 SU’s offense in the second half of a 41-24 loss to the Fighting Irish. With Shrader still recovering from his injury, Del Rio-Wilson started the following week against Pitt. He went 8-for-23 for 120 yards and suffered six sacks as the Orange fell 19-9 to the Panthers.

In 2023, after seeing garbage time action in SU’s early season blowout wins over Colgate and Western Michigan, Syracuse turned to Del Rio-Wilson when Shrader was again sidelined with injuries. On Nov. 3, Del Rio-Wilson started against Boston College and struggled, throwing four interceptions and seven completions as SU lost 17-10.

Del Rio-Wilson finished his Syracuse career with 624 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and eight interceptions, along with 148 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Del Rio-Wilson is the fifth Syracuse player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Anwar Sparrow entered as a graduate transfer Thursday, freshman Marcellus Barnes Jr. joined early Monday morning, kicker Brady Denaburg announced his decision Monday and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Joshua Miller entered Wednesday afternoon.
