Following conference championship weekend, Syracuse moved up to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 Poll and No. 21 in the College Football Playoff rankings, released Sunday. The Orange jumped UNLV and Missouri but fell behind Army after its American Athletic Conference Championship win.
Conference championship weekend caused a mixup throughout the polls, as Texas and Penn State dropped out of the top three following losses. The Atlantic Coast Conference’s SMU fell four spots to No. 12 while Clemson rose five spots to No. 13. The Tigers defeated the Mustangs on a last-second field goal, while head coach Dabo Swinney gave a shoutout to SU head coach Fran Brown following the victory.
The Orange received 234 votes and was ranked in the AP Poll for the second time in 2024. SU first entered the mix following its victory over Miami in the regular-season finale.
In the CFP rankings, SU moved up to No. 21 following a No. 22 ranking a week ago. The Orange jumped UNLV, which moved from No. 20 to No. 24. Syracuse was first ranked in the CFP following its win over then-No. 6 Miami.
