Throughout Remembrance Week, chairs sat on the Shaw Quad in front of Hendricks Chapel to symbolize the lives lost in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing. Each chair stood in the place of the victims' plane seats, with chairs to represent the flight crew and other passengers positioned at the front of the assembly.

The Remembrance Scholar Convocation was led by messages from Gretchen Ritter, vice chancellor, Brian Konkol, dean of Hendricks Chapel, and Lois Agnew, associate provost for academic programs. The Hendricks Chapel Choir captivated the audience with “Such Splendor” by Cecilia McDowall and the Wind Ensemble performed “Angels Rising” by Frank Ticheli.

Hannah Starorypinksi, along with the other scholars, embraces family and friends after the Remembrance Scholar Convocation. In a speech, Starorypinski encouraged the audience to find beauty in the midst of grief while looking at the past and future.

On the Quad, university students and families paint rocks during the Remembrance Stone Painting event. After students and families finish painting their stones, they are put into a box and, during the Rose Laying Ceremony, Remembrance Scholars place them on top of the Wall of Remembrance.
