Several burglaries occur in East neighborhood during last 2 weeks

Five houses have been burglarized in the East neighborhood near Syracuse University in the last two weeks.
The burglaries took place between May 30 and June 10 on Ostrom, Euclid and Fellows avenues and Greenwood Place, said Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department.
Syracuse police are investigating, but Connellan said there are no suspects at this time. The burglaries took place:
May 30, 700 block of Ostrom Avenue, between 4-9 p.m.;
May 30, 300 block of Fellows Avenue, 5 p.m.
May 31, 500 block of Euclid Avenue, between 4 p.m. to 8 a.m.;
June 2, 400 block of Greenwood Place, between noon to 2 a.m.
June 10, 200 block of Greenwood Place, 12:30 a.m.
The items stolen were mostly electronics, Connellan said.
It is not unusual to see an increase in burglaries in the East neighborhood at this time of year because many of these homes are occupied by students who are not living there during the summer and leave belongings behind, Connellan said.
‘They’ll leave stuff there thinking they’re going to come back later in the summer and get it,’ he said. ‘It’s normal that we see some burglaries increase in that neighborhood just because of people leaving.’
