The Waverly Avenue construction project will help ease the flow of traffic and support the new National Veterans Resource Complex.

Renovations of multiple Syracuse University residence halls and buildings are progressing well, the university announced Wednesday.

In a campus-wide email, Pete Sala, vice president and chief facilities officer, said construction on Day, Haven and DellPlain halls is set to be completed before students return to campus in August. The renovations in Day and DellPlain include the conversion of multi-person bathrooms to pod style single-use bathrooms.

Sala said several other projects are nearing completion, including the construction of a single-occupant accessible bathroom on the second floor of Schine Student Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Library improvements in Sims Hall and Dineen Hall accessible suite entry upgrades.

Sewer replacement work has been completed on Waverly Avenue, which is the largest project of the summer, Sala said. The entire Waverly Avenue project — including steam, chilled water, power and data work — will help improve the flow of traffic on Waverly Avenue and help support the new National Veterans Resource Complex, he added.

Additional projects set for this summer include:

  • Center for Science and Technology roof replacement
  • Link Hall and Center for Science and Technology classroom improvements
  • Replacement of the Hendricks Chapel main steps
  • Watson Hall auditorium improvements
  • Crouse College masonry and skylight repairs
  • Schine Student Center fire alarm system replacement

The next Campus Framework forum will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium inside Newhouse 3.
